Monumental Trees

It is believed that, some of the almost 2000 monumental olive trees in the Morphou (Güzelyurt) – Kalkanlı area that are currently under protection, are around a thousand years old. Scientists acknowledge that these trees are evidence that Cyprus was the source in spreading the olive tree all around the Mediterranean.
